Cesena, in their first ever Champions League final appearance, could have had a much better start than they did.
The visitors were unable to put their stamp on the game, as Lazio were unable get back into the game and were eventually awarded a penalty by the officials.
However, the win is a positive step for Cesene, as they are now level on points with Udinese and are one point clear of Inter, who are in second.
Lazio did, however, concede the winner when they were down to 10 men.
It was the only time Lazio had conceded in the game.
Lazios defender Giuseppe Bizzarri said after the game that the loss was a disappointment for the team.
“We were always confident in our play, but tonight was a very poor start for us,” he said.
“Our opponents were a better team.
We need to do better, but we need to start improving and improve.
I think this is a very bad result.
It’s unfortunate, we needed to do well and then we did not.”
